Lambuth University, as an institution of the United Methodist Church, and Congregation B'nai Israel are
bound together by our common faith in the God of Abraham and Sarah, Isaac and Rebekah, and Jacob, Rachel, and Leah.
Desiring to give mutual expression to this common faith, Lambuth University and Congregation B'nai Israel hereby enter into
a relationship of mutual encouragement and support for
- the cultural and spiritual environment of both the Lambuth campus and the Temple congregation
and
- the promotion of understanding and reconciliation between Christians and Jews.
Activities to carry out this relationship will include lectures, symposia, conferences and various other
cultural events. In connection with this relationship, Lambuth University anticipates becoming a resource center for
the study of Judaism and of the Holocaust for schools and the general public in West Tennessee.
The Center is located on the 2nd floor of the Luther L. Gobbel Library on the Lambuth University Campus.
One may visit the Center during normal library hours. To schedule a tour of the permanent exhibits, call the Center at 731.425.3449.
A Steering Committee to plan and oversee the activities of the Center will consist of 8 persons
- four from Lambuth University, appointed by the President of Lambuth University; and four from Congregation
B'nai Israel, appointed according to Congregation protocol.
The members of the Steering Committee are Gene Davenport, Anita Stamper, Jim Humphreys and Pam Dennis from
Lambuth and Joel Newman, Ted Leach and Janice Riddler from Congregation B'nai Israel. Judy Pennel is the coordinator
